Food is such an important part of our lives. Together let's commemorate a block of cheese or a jar of pickles, a family dish or a whole table of traditional food.

what's included?

Your food portrait will be an original, hand-painted,

gouache painting on 100% cotton watercolour paper,

supported by archival mat board with a custom art label.

To ensure your artwork arrives safe and sound, free tracked and

insured shipping within Canada is included. If you would prefer local pick up in central Edmonton, you will receive a $30 discount on your order.

Framing is not included.

options and payment

One ingredient/food on 8 x 8" = $150

Plated meal or dish on 12 x 12" = $210

Table of food (multiple dishes) on 12 x 16" = $270

Custom sizes are also available. Sometimes a custom size is the best thing for the painting. (For example a long skinny table full of plates and dishes might require a long skinny composition)

A 50% deposit is required to confirm the commission. The remaining amount is due once the artwork is complete. You may pay with cash or e-transfer.

background colour options

Now offering background colours for your portrait. Options include cheery colours like pale pink, creamy yellow, pastel peach, misty blue, and pale lime! (And, if you are a purist, classic white is always an option.) PS: If you have a special table cloth that you would like to feature in the background instead, we can do that too!

reference photos

Please send photos to nancynickolsondraws@gmail.com. I need at least one photo with good natural lighting with no harsh shadows (ideally level or directly from above). Additional photos are helpful to show details like decoration on plates and silverware, etc. To ensure I create the painting of your dreams, please tell me about all the details you want in the artwork prior to signing the contract.

timeline

Please note that my current schedule is quite busy and I am currently booking commissions with work being completed two months from now.

gift certificates

Give the gift of a food portrait commission! This is a great option if your timeline is tight or if you can't track down photos without the gift recipient.

How it works: You purchase a gift certificate. I will mail your gift certificate to you or to your recipient, or I can send you a digital version to print yourself. Then, your gift recipient can contact me at any time when they are ready to have their artwork started. They will send me their photos and I will start painting.
